Chocolate Sable

Chocolate Sable

Kori and Bo had a darling chocolate sable, Millie, that+ can be seen starting at about the 3:40 mark. She not only has a gorgeous coat, but as an adult, she will have beautiful yellow-gold eyes that chocolates are known for.

Below is Queenie out of Amber and Summit. She is a darling chocolate sable girl that carries the blue gene, who will be holding back for our breeding program. She also caries recessive black and pied, so she will be able to produce virtually any color of puppies we want, excluding cream, based on who we breed her to.

Chocolate fawn versus chocolate sable

In this video you can see a good example of the differences between chocolate fawns and chocolate sables. Of course, there are variances in these colors, but the sables will have darker tipped hairs, which are more prominent on the upper body.

Chocolate sable, chocolate sable pied, and chocolate fawn pied in same litter

This litter from Tinley and Apollo had a one in four chance of producing a chocolate puppy, since both Tinley and Apollo are only carriers of the chocolate gene. To have a litter of three puppies, all of which are chocolates, is a one in 64 chance. This is what makes predicting what color puppies we will have in some litters so difficult - statistics don't always hold up in the short term :-).
