BlueHaven French Bulldogs

Are your puppies vet checked before they are sold?

Some breeds of dogs, especially those that require their tails or ears to be docked or their dew claws to be removed, are taken to the vets within a few days of their births to have these procedures done.  Fortunately, none of these procedures are required for French Bulldogs.

Our pups are all delivered by C-Section and are immediately seen and checked by our vet. We then take our French Bulldog puppies to our vet generally when they are 6 weeks of age for a thorough health check-up.  If any of our puppies are destined to have problems, we almost always know by this time.  This allows us to identify puppies which should not be sold and/or for which special arrangements need to be made.

Any puppies/dogs we sell will be up-to-date on all immunizations and preventive treatments for worms, coccidia, and giardia.  The first 2 of 3 required DAPP vaccinations are given at 6 and 9 weeks of age and the first of 2 Bordetella vaccinations is also given at 9 weeks of age.  The remaining DAPP and Bordetella vaccinations are due at 12 weeks, along with, their rabies vaccination. Yearly DAPP and Bordetella vaccination are due thereafter. The 2nd rabies vaccination is due a year later, and succeeding rabies shots are due at two or three year intervals depending on local requirements. We give preventive treatments for worms and giardia at 5 and 7 weeks and preventive treatment for coccidia at 4, 6, and 8 weeks, even if there is no indication of any of these parasites.  This includes heart-worm prevention medication if your Frenchie puppy is old enough to have been permitted to be outside for exercise breaks (since heart-worms are spread through mosquito bites).

The bottom line is that your puppy will come to you vet checked and up-to-date on all age appropriate immunization shots and medications.  The last thing we would ever want to do is to place a puppy with you, or anyone else, which is not in good health or which has a congenital or genetic problems which would result in severe problems down the road.  We will do our very best to ensure that your experience in obtaining your French Bulldog puppy through us is a pleasant and positive one (and, as mentioned elsewhere, all of our puppies come with a one-year health guarantee, and we will treat you fairly if any health issue does arise).
